Harstra Instruments was
founded in 1940 in Utrecht, Netherlands by Mr. Harderwijk and Mr. Van straaten.
In 1960
Mr. J. van
der Ham sr. became a partner. Before and during his partnerschip he
was also running his own company in Bilthoven, Netherlands. He manufactured
scientific instruments by the name Paphyla.
During
the sixties the type of work in this division was very labor intensive.
You can really tell by looking at the wooden incubator made in 1956 by
Harstra. This incubator was used for bacterial analysis. For that period
of time it is a good example of Workmanship
Mr. J van der
Ham sr. handed over his company, at this point sole owned, to his son
J. R. van der Ham jr. in 1983. J.R. van der Ham had successfully, thanks
to his education and experience, expanded the company and will continue
to develop in the future.
For
another 10 years Harstra Instruments is situated in Utrecht. This building
became too small. In 1992 the company was moved to Zeewolde. Within a
short period of time, Harstra needed more space and the 400 m2
production facilty was build.
Harstra Instruments
works with the state of the art equipment, for example CNC
Machinery. But Harstra Instruments still delivers old
fashion service.
In short Harstra Instruments
is a growing company with a nice team of qualified and flexible employees.
